Statement of Purpose

Law Health Justice aims to advance legal, policy, and practice responses to issues at the intersection of law and health. We pursue health justice for – and with – populations that experience harms rooted in systemic inequities. We employ diverse and interdisciplinary research methods and theoretical approaches. Through collaboration and partnerships, we aim to inform positive changes that reduce inequalities and improve health and justice outcomes.

Petrie-Flom Center: Health Law Biotech and Bioethics
The Petrie-Flom Center for Health Law Policy, Biotechnology, and Bioethics at Harvard Law School was founded in 2005 through a generous gift from Joseph H. Flom and the Carroll and Milton Petrie Foundation. The Center’s founding mission was to promote interdisciplinary analysis and legal scholarship in these fields. Today, the Center has grown into a leading research program dedicated to the unbiased legal and ethical analysis of pressing questions facing health policymakers, medical professionals, patients, families, and others who influence and are influenced by health care and the health care system. To achieve this goal, the Center fosters a community of leading intellectuals, practitioners, and policymakers from a variety of backgrounds at all stages in their careers, across Harvard University and across the world.

The Center for Tax Law and Policy at Penn brings together the scholars at Penn Law who study the design and operation of tax and transfer systems. Yale Law School Center for the Study of Corporate Law
The Yale Law School Center for the Study of Corporate Law was established in 1999. The wide-ranging objective of the Center is to enhance the quality of students’ educational experience and of faculty research in the business law area, by increasing exposure to and engagement with contemporary business law issues. The Center’s focus of study includes corporate law and the law of other nongovernmental organizations; the regulation of financial markets and intermediaries; the legal framework of finance, including the law of bankruptcy, corporate reorganization, and secured transactions; and antitrust law and the law of regulated industries. Center programs consist of lectures, roundtables, a workshop in law and finance, a colloquium series, an alumni breakfast program, panels and symposia, in which academics, government officials, and members of the bar and business community participate.
